Bleecker Street acquires Nostalgia directed by Mark Pellington

News from Sundance

Bleecker Street has secured North American distribution rights to Mark Pellington’s drama, Nostalgia, about the powerful moments found in the remainders of our lives. The film features an all-star cast, including Jon Hamm, Ellen Burstyn, Catherine Keener, Bruce Dern, Nick Offerman, Amber Tamblyn, John Ortiz, and James LeGros.

Following the lives of people connected through loss, the film examines the human process of finding love and solace in the artifacts and memories we share with each other. The film also stars Patton Oswalt, Annalise Basso, Larry Wilmore and Joanna Going. Nostalgia was written by Alex Ross Perry (Listen up Philip) from an original story by Alex Ross Perry and Mark Pellington. It was produced by Pellington, Tom Gorai and Josh Braun. Alex Ross Perry is an Executive Producer.

Andrew Karpen, CEO of Bleecker Street, said, “Mark has assembled an incredible cast to share this story of family, memories and loss. Nostalgia is one of those beautiful films that can touch everyone as we collectively and individually wrestle with holding onto the things that matter most.”

Director Mark Pellington said, “‘I’m very proud and enthusiastic to continue my relationship with Andrew Karpen and Bleecker Street on this film.

Alex Ross Perry’s unique script attracted a terrific caliber of cast, all who were deeply committed to the film and these characters. I wanted to focus this film on a performance driven drama for adult audiences, exploring themes of memory, love, grief and the fragile impermanence of our relationship to the objects and artifacts we hold in our hands and our heart.”

The acquisition expands the relationship between Bleecker Street and Pellington as his film, The Last Word, is set to premiere at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival on Tuesday, January 24th and will be released on March 3rd, 2017. The deal was negotiated between Kent Sanderson of Bleecker Street with Avy Eschenasy on behalf of Bleecker Street and UTA Independent Film Group, CAA and Josh Braun of Submarine on behalf of the filmmakers.
